Japanese Home Cooking Course

  Course.1

The basis of home-style Japanese cuisine centers around two things:

(1) seasonality
(2) balance

Traditionally, home-style cooking will feature “Ichijyu-sansai” (一汁三菜) , which translates to one soup and three dishes. This course will teach participants to cook one main dish, two side dishes and miso soup.

<Standard course> 80USD~/person

1 main course (meat or fish), 2 side dishes and miso soup

<Vegetarian course> 80USD~/person

1 main vegetarian course (no meat and fish), 2 vegetarian side dishes and miso soup

Course.2

*Each course will be served with steam rice (white or mixed grain rice). We can also provide seasonal Takikomi-rice (Japanese-style paella that infuses fresh ingredients into rice) with an additional 800yen/person. Please note that all participants in the same group must choose the same type of rice.

*A mixed sashimi plate can be served to go alongside the meal with an additional charge. Please ask us for more details.

Sushi Course

If you love sushi, why not consider to learn to make it yourself? Tokyo Sakura Kitchen offers a unique sushi course for you!

<Maki and Temari course> 88USD~/person

Course.3Maki sushi is sushi rolled by hand, wrapped with a large piece of nori (seaweed), using the makisu (bamboo rolling mat). Temari sushi is a very cute sushi with fresh fish covering a golf ball-sized round rice ball. This course features fresh and popular ingredients such as lean tuna (maguro), salmon, and shrimp to make the maki and temari sushi. We make 1 traditional Maki roll (or 2 thin Maki rolls) and 5 Temari-style sushi in the class.

<Chirashi course> 88USD~/person

Course.4Chirashi is a sushi rice dish decorated with a selection of fish and other complimentary ingredients. Traditionally, given its colorful and beautiful appearance, it is served on March 3rd to celebrate the Hinamatsuri (an annual festival dedicated to girls).

*Each course will be served with “Chawanmushi” (steamed egg custard) and miso soup.

Party courses for 4 or more participants

<Temaki sushi party course> from 98USD~/person

Course.5The course includes a variety of high-quality seafood, sushi rice, seaweed and miso soup. Participants will learn to prepare the sushi rice, accompanying vegetables and miso soup, and construct a temaki sushi hand roll. Temaki-style (hand roll) sushi is often enjoyed in Japan in a party setting with family and friends. To guarantee the highest and freshest quality possible, we source the ingredients either from Tsukiji Fish Market or flown in directly to us from the fish supplier located in other parts of Japan. The temaki party experience is one of a kind and difficult to enjoy in a restaurant, and therefore not to be missed!
